PBS Kids Channel Television
PBS Kids is a trusted brand for children’s programming on PBS, catering to ages 2 to 8. Known for its educational live-action and animated series, many shows are developed under the “Ready-to-Learn” initiative. Launched in 1999 to replace the PTV brand, PBS Kids expanded into digital platforms and a 24-hour channel. The original cable version faced challenges, but a relaunch in 2017 brought the 24-hour channel to digital and streaming platforms. From 2005 to 2013, PBS partnered with Comcast for PBS Kids Sprout. In 2023, the PBS Kids block was reduced to 8 hours daily, reflecting a shift to digital viewing and adult-focused programming in the afternoons.
