TBS (Turner Broadcasting System), now part of Warner Bros. Discovery, is an American cable network focused on comedy programming, with additional sports coverage. The channel airs a mix of syndicated sitcoms, original comedy series, and sports events like Major League Baseball, Stanley Cup playoffs, and NCAA men’s basketball. TBS started in 1976 as a satellite feed of the WTCG independent station in Atlanta, Georgia, becoming the first nationally distributed “superstation.” In the 2000s, TBS shifted its focus to comedy, including sitcoms and original series. The network rebranded in 2007, catering to national audiences, while its former parent station in Atlanta became WPCH-TV.
