Animal Planet, an American pay television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, was established on June 1, 1996. Initially focused on wildlife documentaries, the channel shifted its programming direction in 2008 to feature more aggressive animal portrayals and reality series. In 2018, Animal Planet rebranded again, moving away from its more intense branding. It is available in around 70 million U.S. households as of November 2023.
