Sundance TV Channel
Sundance TV, previously known as Sundance Channel, is a U.S.-based pay-TV channel owned by AMC Networks. It was launched on February 1, 1996, and named after Robert Redford’s character in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Originally focused on independent films, documentaries, and world cinema, it expanded to include original and acquired programming. Although associated with Redford’s Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival, the channel operates independently. In 2013, Sundance TV became ad-supported, and its programming began to include content edited for commercials.
